First O antiphon: “O Sapientia”

O Wisdom, coming forth from the mouth of the Most High,

reaching from one end to the other,

mightily and sweetly ordering all things:

Come and teach us the way of prudence.

You, O Wisdom, bring everything into holy order, for You come from the Eternal Father. Thou dost penetrate all things and, by Thy strength and gentleness, dost restore the divine order.

You, O Eternal Father, send the One “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col 2:3). To meet Him, to open oneself to His love, is to be touched by Wisdom.

Wisdom, the tasty knowledge, is sweet as honey in the mouth and a burning fire of love in the heart.

It will never depart, as long as we remain faithful to Him, the Sun of salvation.

His words are life; His words are truth; His words are the way through the darkness. He is the light that shines in the darkness! (Jn 1:5)

“No one has ever spoken like this man.” (Jn 7:46) – it will be said of Him. Never before has it been possible to meet the living God in this way. “No one has ever seen God; it is the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.” (Jn 1:18).

O come, Emmanuel! -Come, Redeemer of all peoples, do not delay!

Without you we can do nothing (Jn 15:5); with you all things are possible. With you mountains can be moved (Mk 11:23); the weak are made strong, the mighty are brought down from their throne, the lowly are exalted.

O Wisdom! Not only have you shown us the way, but you yourself have become the Way (Jn 14:6). Make it known to us again in these days, so that no one may be lost and the gates of hell may be closed.

O Wisdom! Lead us to the fountains of life, that we may drink from the springs of salvation (Isa 12:3) and that rivers of living water may flow from within us (Jn 7:38).

O Wisdom, how sweet and delightful you are!

“Taste and see how good the Lord is” (Ps 34:9).

You, O Wisdom, have become our nourishment. Day after day, hour after hour… You have given yourself to us, and we have only to come to you and drink the waters of salvation.
