“I am coming to proclaim Myself the Father of all and the most tender of fathers, in order to transform your love, which has become distorted by fear.” (From the message from God the Father to M. Eugenia Ravasio)
Here, our Heavenly Father cites a fundamental reason why He addresses people directly through the message to Madre Eugenia. This text is preceded by His remark that people do not yet know Him as He truly is. The reason is stated here: There is still a distorted image of our Father, one that may be marked by fear.
Even though the image of an exceedingly strict Father may have changed in the preaching of recent decades (the message is nearly a hundred years old), we must still examine to what extent our relationship with our Father is marked by excessive self-justification and fear.
That would not be in keeping with what the Father desires: that He may be a Father, a Friend, and a Confidant to us. Certainly, there are blessed souls who have lived, and continue to live, in such a relationship with God. Yet the Lord desires this for all people, and He wants them to know that this is meant to be the normal state of the relationship between Him, the loving Father, and His children, for everyone to whom He has given life in His love.
We should not be burdened by the false notion of a “terrifyingly just God” but rather should embrace the image of a Father who is committed to leading all people to their eternal home and accompanying them on this journey.
This does not mean that our lives cannot go astray. Yet the path of return to the Father always remains open. Our Father eagerly awaits our return, and reconciliation with Him will be an everlasting celebration of love.
That is who our Father is!
