Our life is short, and to use it for both this time and eternity is the highest wisdom. Deep down, many people probably long to fulfill their purpose on earth. If they have not yet encountered God, their professional duties help them move meaningfully within the natural order intended for them. However, their perspective changes upon encountering God. They come to understand that the natural orders originate from God and that carefully fulfilling them pleases and honors Him. Yet one’s perspective opens up even further, for with this realization, one begins to understand one’s service in daily life as a contribution to building the Kingdom of God on earth. Consequently, one carries out everything ever more consciously for the glory of God!
As our faith deepens and our relationship with God becomes more natural, our longing to be united with our Father in eternity grows. These words bring this to mind and fall on fertile ground. Now, it is not merely a matter of focusing on our earthly present and faithful service to our Father. Rather, we understand that God is waiting for us in eternity. Our time on earth is a passage linked to a specific mission from God. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10).
Thus, we are invited to live with eternity in mind and pass the time awaiting fulfillment by doing the works entrusted to us. The reward, which will surely come, is God Himself. Being close to our Father, together with all who love Him, will be our unimaginable bliss. That is what we are waiting for!
