“Pay attention to each day and learn in the School of the Holy Trinity every day.” (Inner Word)
The great, infinite God does not consider it beneath Him to invite us into His School of Wisdom. For He is the Father from whom all things proceed, and His Son came to us to make God’s love and wisdom tangible to us. Moreover, it is the Holy Spirit through whom “God’s love has been poured into our hearts” (Rom. 5:5) and who reminds us of all that Jesus said and did (John 14:26).
What is still missing? Nothing!
From the Lord’s perspective, everything has been given. Now it is up to us to listen carefully and learn from every situation. We are already doing this when we keep in mind that nothing happens without our Heavenly Father’s will or permission. In this we have found the essential key to understanding our lives. We then do not view life as a series of random events, but recognize it in the light of God, as Psalm 32:8 says: “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”
In specific situations, we can always ask Jesus Himself whether He encountered something similar during His earthly life, and we can follow His guidance.
If that is not the case, we draw upon the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Counsel. May He inspire us as to what we are to do in the circumstances of our lives.
It is also important to emphasize that we have something to learn day by day. This highlights the journey-like nature of our lives and our ability to share more and more in the fullness of God.
The love that the infinite God has for His creatures will always be a source of joy for us. As we walk the path of instruction through the Most Holy Trinity, we will come to understand this more deeply each day.
