“In order to prevail in this battle, it must be an army that strives for holiness.” (Inner Word)
This inner word goes back to St. Joan of Arc. She speaks of a “holy army,” even for our time. It likely refers to the “army of the Lamb,” that is, those who follow the Lamb wherever He leads them (Rev. 14:4).
Spiritual warfare is inevitable for those who wish to remain faithful to God’s commandments. They must be prepared, and there is no better armor than being as intimately united as possible with our Heavenly Father. In Madre Eugenia’s Little Book of the Father, it says: “Do you wish to defeat your enemy? Pray to Me, and you will triumph over him.”
Our chief enemy is the devil, the “murderer from the beginning” (Jn 8:44). However, he also uses people who do not resist him or who allow themselves to be deceived. For this reason, we need God’s protection and guidance in the battle that Satan wages with every perverse means. What is necessary for the individual also applies to the entire army of the faithful. This becomes all the more relevant as the anti‑Christian spirit manifests itself even within the Church. Naturally, this army must not deviate one iota from the teaching handed down to us by the Apostles and the Church. Vade retro, satana!
The path of holiness is death to these forces. The more we put it into practice day by day—even in the small and seemingly insignificant things—the stronger the army becomes and the more terrifying it is for the demons. United with the Mother of God in the Father’s heart, the army becomes invincible, because then the Lord fights for us with His own, and the demons must flee. Moreover, we will grow in love.
