“LOVE GUIDES EVERY STEP AND ACTION”

“May my love find such a home within you that it guides all your steps and determines your actions.” (Inner word)

This would be the glorious fruit of an intimate relationship with our Father, one that withholds nothing from Him. Love — and this is the presence of the Holy Spirit — has already overcome the main obstacles on this path, and is now working ever more subtly to make acts of love towards God and others second nature. This happens through God’s indwelling in us.

Our Father has taken up residence within us and this has become natural, because love is a unifying force. Once we have welcomed it into our hearts, it does not rest but permeates every aspect of our lives. With our consent, it now exercises dominion over our will, which gladly submits to it. However, it still requires our repeated decision to surrender ourselves to it, especially when we encounter a cross in our path! With every act we perform out of love for our Father, it grows stronger and more secure.

When our dear Father finds us in such a state, He can guide our steps freely. We would notice if we were heading in the wrong direction: the Spirit would block our path, just as He did not allow the Apostle Paul to go to Asia, for example (Acts 16:6).

Conversely, the Spirit would let us know when we have chosen the right path. This applies not only to the major directions of our lives, but also to the many smaller pathways that align with God’s purposes.

It is now up to us to decide whether we will continually seek reassurance from the Lord, who lives within us. If we allow our Father to guide our steps, our actions will be guided by Him too. They will always possess that special flavor of love that distinguishes them from purely human actions.
