“Just let the truth triumph” (Inner Word)
A few words from the priest, Mag. Don Michael Gurtner, may inspire us to reflect once more on the infinite value of truth and to commit ourselves to it with all our hearts.
The priest writes with a critical eye on the current state of the Church, which is, after all, called to be the guardian of truth:
“The departure from truth in many theological approaches seems to have taken place precisely because the very concept of truth, even in the secular realm, is rejected by a large majority as absolutist, intolerant, arrogant, or simply unrecognizable.”
Nothing, however, could be further from the truth. People who think this way have unfortunately not yet truly encountered the light and the purifying and healing power of truth.
Don Michael points out what is necessary in the Church’s proclamation in order to offer people clear water from the “Throne of the Lamb”:
“Theology must once again make clear where its source lies: in Christ, the eternal, begotten Word of the Father. Its own word must be subject to this eternal Word of the Father, which shapes it and through which it speaks. The Church’s word must be drawn from the eternal Word of the Father, who alone is the truth.”
It takes courage today to profess the truth of our faith. Yet, in the face of unbelief and even hostility toward the faith, we must not lose heart; instead, we must remember Jesus’ words that His Word will endure and act accordingly.
Trust in our Father will guide us! We know that the truth prevails, for it is the Lord Himself who also desires to reveal Himself to people through our hearts!
Let us do our part and let the truth prevail!
