“May my guidance always order everything in wisdom” (Inner Word)
Our divine Father not only gives us general guidance in our lives through His commandments and His holy word, as well as through the circumstances of life in which He has placed us. God also wants to take direct control of our lives. This becomes easy to understand when we realize that our Father sees our entire life before Him and has given it meaning and a purpose from the very beginning. Ephesians 2:10 states: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Therefore, our task is to find the path that our Father has laid out for us and follow His guidance along it. Actually, it’s an easy task, because God’s help is always there. What more could God want than for us to listen to Him and for our lives to unfold in all their fruitfulness?
What we often lack is an intimate relationship with God, the ability to perceive His voice, and the experience of certain processes of purification, for we must distinguish between the Lord’s guidance and our own desires. Likewise, disordered inclinations stand in our way, diminishing our inner receptivity to the Lord’s voice.
Yet our Father does not lose heart over our shortcomings. With great patience and perseverance, He seeks in His wisdom to order our lives according to His Spirit. Thus, He leads us out of all inner and outer entanglements time and again until we more easily perceive His gentle voice in the Holy Spirit and more willingly follow it.
The path becomes easier and can be followed more readily, even when outwardly it appears difficult and burdened with hardships.
