This is what our gracious Father has planned for us: a life of intimacy, natural love, and security. At the same time, it is a call to take our place in the Kingdom of God—the place our Father intended for us.
Under the circumstances of this world separated from God, under the oppression of Satan—who begrudges humanity this closeness to God and the wisdom that comes with it and fights against it—this also means struggle. God allows us to face this struggle, and on this path we can demonstrate our love and faithfulness to Him, thus responding to His love. In union with His Son, victory is certain. Yet this struggle is intended only for the time we spend on earth.
God’s nearness and our share in His wisdom are the nourishment that our Father bestows anew upon His believers every day: to understand the world and the circumstances of life more and more from God’s perspective and to act accordingly under the guidance of His Spirit. It is like love: the more we love, the greater love becomes. As Jesus says, “To him who has will more be given” (Matthew 13:12). The more we feel at home in our Father’s presence and live in intimate communion with Him, the more His Spirit will guide and enlighten us.
Let us remember: Being close to our heavenly Father is not only an insatiable longing of our soul, which wishes to return home from exile, but also the heartfelt desire of our Father, who longs for His children to receive all that He has to give.
