“A HOLY BATTLE”

“I want to triumph in you, to overcome the powers of evil in your flesh, so that many more may be saved.” (Inner Word)

This is a word that can be understood in close harmony with the words of the Apostle to the Gentiles: “In my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church.” (Col. 1:24)

Our Father draws us into His plan of salvation. Therefore, we are not merely recipients of undeserved salvation; we are called to cooperate in God’s great plan of love: to lead humanity home to the Father through Christ. Let us pause for a moment and realize: Despite our weakness and limitations, we are permitted to participate in the most important task—leading people to their true destiny. How awesome!

Paul knew this and conveyed it to us theologically. In our union with the Lord and as we follow Him, everything we do in Him becomes a continuation of Christ’s salvific work, which is to be shared with all humanity.

You and I are called—each of us in our own way, by the grace of the Lord.

In particular, we have been entrusted with the battle against the powers of evil. By rejecting their temptations, weakening them through our prayer, fulfilling God’s holy will day by day, and thus serving the Kingdom of God, souls can be snatched from the clutches of darkness through our Lord. If we knew all that God can do through us, we would be careful not to let a single day pass without making the most of it.

God is pleased to triumph through us. We can see this in the lives of many saints who overcame the world and through whom our Father has put the powers of darkness in their place.

You and I are included, too! Our Father is calling us to this holy battle!
